In 2013, the first-ever women’s fight in UFC history, Ronda Rousey defends her UFC Bantamweight title when she defeats Liz Carmouche via armbar. Over a decade after the debut, the women's division of the UFC is stronger than ever with women regularly competing at the highest level on the sport’s biggest stage.

In 2019, Hinako Shibuno claimed her first maiden major title in her first tournament outside her native Japan. Shibuno became the second Japanese player ever to win a women’s major championship after Hisako Higuchi, who won the 1977 LGPA Championship.

In 2023, Marketa Vondrousova became the first unseeded woman to win Wimbledon, coming back in each set for a 6-4, 6-4 victory over runner-up Ons Jabeur in the final.

History was made at the 2021 Rugby World Cup final as a record-breaking crowd for a women’s international watched New Zealand beat England at Eden Park.

In 2002 Serena and Venus Williams played each other four times. At the Roland-Garros final, Serena won the title – and Venus famously took her mother’s camera to photograph her sister holding the trophy.
