Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond

The Royal Dutch Football Association or KNVB is the governing body of football in the Netherlands. It organises the main Dutch football leagues (Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie), the amateur leagues, the KNVB Cup, and the Dutch national football team.

Facts & Figures

-Originally founded by Pim Muller in 1879 whilst playing football on a pitch with 3 trees, the association was named NVB in 1895.

-KNVB was officially named in 1954 when the unions agreed on a professional game, this was due to the loss of many talented footballers to overseas leagues.

-The first Dutch national game was held in 1905, other memorable moments include theonly trophy thus far in the  1988 European Championship.

-Consistent producers of globally recognized talent  including legends, Marco Van Basten, Johan Cruyff, Ruud Gullit, Dennis Bergkamp and Edwin Van Der Sar.
