The Bundesliga is at the top of Germany's football league system and comprises of 18 teams. Founded in 1962 with the first season played in 1963, 56 teams have competed in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich being the most successful having won the competition 24 times.

The Bundesliga is operated by the Deutsche Fußball Liga (the sole member of the Deutscher Fußball-Bund) and is broadcast across the World to more than 200 countries and also is the most watched football league in the World having the highest average match attendence. Seasons run from August to May.
